We Are Saved by Hope

Why do I hope in God?  Because I’ve placed hope in people before, and they have failed me.  Yet, how could they not, because we are humans living in the flesh.  What one person have I encountered over the course of my life that I could place complete trust in?  Trust without failure.  Whether they be based on bad or good intentions.  They remain undoubtedly limited by the fact that people could not perform the miracles in my life that were so desperately needed.  There was not a one, not a single person qualified to fix the broken things in my life. There was not a price tag that could be attached, not a hug that could get it all back right; it would take something of a much higher caliber to intervene in such dire situations.  It took God Almighty to reach down from Heaven and touch my life.  I knew that God was real, that Jesus was real.  Not due to the religion forced upon captured and kidnapped slaves, what some label as the white man’s religion, nor the one that others distort by diluting it’s state of perfection by intermingling it with other religions; but due to the fact that I experienced Him for myself.  In every sense of the word or meaning, He touched me.

How so?  There was a point, a moment, a day, and exact time that I experienced the presence of God in such a way, that my legs lost all will; my knees gave out on me, and I yearned to bow as low to the ground as I possibly could.  So there I was bending, stooping over, visible in the front of a full congregation at church; yet, completely unaware to my surroundings for several moments.  It was as if there was direct pathway open up unto Heaven above me, and the power I felt rushing through my body, burning, was more than I have ever known before.  Having known God since I can remember, I’ve experienced countless times that I’ve felt His presence, but this was different.  In that moment, I knew what Philippians 4:13 meant, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Because I felt His strength without flaw, His glory without error, His perfection without spot or blemish.   I know Christ to be real and true, because I wanted to know who He was, and He revealed himself to me.  So that I know it, with every fiber of my being, its a wisdom and a knowledge that cannot be pried from my heart or swayed by the desires of others that wish to convince me otherwise.  It is my decision to believe this.  It is based upon more than books written by what we perceive to be smart or intelligent scholars.  It is based upon relationship, it is based upon truth, is is based upon supernatural experiences, it is based upon love.

Christianity is not the only religion that I have familiarity with.  Due to my love of language, literature, and extensive reading background; I’ve become familiar with many religions near and far, old and those more recently discovered.  New Age believers, Spiritualists, and Conscience thinkers have flooded headlines and Social media in an effort to reeducate the our community as it retains to religion, spiritualism and one discovering the god that lies within ones self; as many have concluded as being the truth.  Years and historical events have proven that people have worshiped many things throughout the course of our existence.  God, Idols, gods, animals, nature, along with themselves in an effort to obtain Spiritual enlightenment or to fill the yearning we all have been created with; that propels us to take this journey of discovering God and getting to know Him on a more personal level.  However; to quickly dismiss the Christian’s perspective, beliefs, and way of life as being absurd or incomprehensible as a valid and sound religious way of life is not only offensive, but ignorant and an opinion often based loosely on those who have a ‘general’ idea of what the Holy Bible says and who God [Yahweh] and Jesus [Yeshua] really are.  The Bible cannot be picked, like cherries and then you partake of the ones you want.  You have to take the whole bushel.  Root, seeds, leaves and all.  Critical thinking, comprehension skills, study, and most importantly Divine revelation reveal the contents of the Supernatural book referred to as the Holy Bible.  And those whose eyes are blinded, see but do not see, and those who ears that have been closed hear, but do not hear.

II Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

You see, one can live a whole life as a Christian, portraying to be, professing to be, attending church for all to see; and never have a relationship with God or the wisdom and understanding to began to comprehend the infinite and incomprehensible character of His nature and His love towards us.  Millions of people, have not aimlessly and without merit worshiped a God of no results.  Just as others in the world experience Spiritual experiences, commune with Spiritual guides, speak to the dead, and seek out power from alternate entities, experiencing results of various kinds, we too that believe in Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God receive results.  Miracles, signs, and wonders that lie outside the bounds of this natural dimension.  The prayers that I send to God on a daily basis are not in vain, they don’t get lost into the abyss of our universe they have a defined destination.  And thus far; why people have failed me, why I, being as only dust have absolutely failed myself, God has never failed me.  I am saved by hope.  My hope and faith in the God that I serve, and it’s not hope seen with eyes, it is a hope enveloped in the God that is unseen, but felt within me by his Spirit and through every invisible breath that I take.  And like hope, I cannot see these breaths that I need so desperately to live.  As it relates to the beating of my heart, I cannot pump this vital organ on my own, but I hope in the Creator of the heart who arranged the pumping and breathed life into me.  This is in whom my hope lies.

So for those that disagree with the Christian way of life, or are on the road to enlightenment, don’t simply dismiss history, prophecies, spiritual phenomena, eye witnesses, and most of all the spiritual change that occurs when one accepts Christ, into their hearts authentically.  Do not look at flawed people who profess to be Christians but are not, or even those who seek God with their whole hearts but are on the path each day to being more like Christ and have not yet attained perfection.  Look to the Word of God to find the perfect example of a follower of Christ, look to Jesus, because even those that were closest to Him failed at times, and even then He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins.  But not only that, ask God to prove Himself to be true, and open your heart to receiving whatever the answer may be on your Spiritual journey, only then will you find the truth and be able to experience the hope that will save you, and a hope eternal.
